Vidyarthi Parishad hands over memorandum
Higher and Technical Education Minister Shri Laxmikant Sharma has said that rules will be formulated for regulating coaching institutes and private hostels. Shri Sharma was talking to a delegation of Akhil Bharatiya Vidyarthi Parishad (ABVP) at his residence today. Office-bearers of the Parishad handed over a memorandum to the Higher and Technical Education Minister for qualitative improvement in both these streams of education. The delegation was led by ABVP national general secretary Shri Vishnudutt Sharma.The memorandum has demanded making registration of coaching institutes mandatory, placing them under professional category and putting a check on the arbitrary fees charged by them. The Higher Education Minister said that after consultation with all those concerned, rules in this connection will be formulated soon. The delegation also demanded revision of fees fixation of engineering and other professional courses and improvement in universities' functioning.
The Higher Education Minister assured the delegation to make university's placement cell more effective. Shri Sharma said that the state government wishes to develop Madhya Pradesh as a major education hub in the country. He said that extensive review of quality improvement in best and autonomous colleges will be undertaken.
The Technical Education Minister said that the process of setting up nodal centres of Rajiv Gandhi Proudyogiki Vishwavidyalaya at divisional level has been set in motion in the larger interests of students community. The free education scheme for poor students will be implemented effectively. Responding to the suggestions made by the delegation on promoting women's education, he said that it is one of the priorities of the state government. Action will be taken in this regard after studying all the suggestions.
